Team Delphi wrestlers are state champions

Team Delphi a youth wrestling team, was in Huntington to wrestle in the Indiana State Wrestling Association's state tournament last weekend. Team Delphi was well represented.

Braden Atwood and Tanner Lynde were both champions in their weight classes. Atwood won at 171 in the cadet division. He did not give up a point in the entire tournament. This is his 18th state title over the years. Lynde won at 135, also in the cadet division. He pinned all of his opponents but one. He wrestled well the entire tournament.

Wesley Everett placed third at 285, losing in the semifinal round in double overtime to the eventual champ. Everett wrestled in the junior division.

Nathan McTigue finished fifth in the junior 130 division. Other team members who wrestled and did not make the medal rounds were Aaron Back, Bobby Floyd, Stephen Back, Ken Myers, Cory Smith, Cody Miller, Brandon Delaney, and Landon Garrison.

Dylan Hart wrestled in the kids portion the week before and finished as the runner-up in the Midget division 80- pound weight class. Hunter Mote also wrestled but did not place.

"These tournaments are what make the wrestlers better," said Coach Mike Atwood. "It is the off season that develops their technique and desire to win."
