Meeting about courthouse square district rescheduled
Due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions across the state, Delphi Main Street and the Delphi Preservation Society postponed Tuesday night's community meeting on the nomination of the Delphi Courthouse Square District to the National Register of Historic Places.
The meeting is rescheduled for March 4 at 7 p.m. at the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #28, 102 East Main Street, Delphi. Entry is on the Washington Street side.
Ball State graduate student Gregg Abell and Mark Smith, local historian, will present highlights of the nomination.
Susan Lankford, assistant director of the Ball State Center for Historic Preservation, will describe the impact listings on the National Register have on communities and property owners within the district.
Achieving a listing on the National Register has great potential for stimulating the revitalization of Delphi's downtown.
The Odd Fellows will provide tours of their historic building following the presentation.
