Carroll girls win sectional
      As the Carroll Lady Cougars were cutting down the nets following their 64-58 victory over Fountain Central in the Class 2A Clinton Central Sectional championship game Saturday night, first-year Carroll coach Mike McCroskey spoke about his belief in his team from the day he took the job.

Alderman wins semistate wrestling title
      Two members of the Delphi wrestling team will be competing in the state tournament to be held Friday and Saturday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. At Saturday's semi-state at Merrillville, Donovan Alderman kept his perfect record in tact by defeating all three of his opponents to claim champion honors. Alderman's record is now 47-0.

Richardson and Burton break 500 free records
      Saturday at the Attica, Carroll and Delphi boys' swim meet, Carroll's Brock Richardson and Delphi's Andrew Burton both set school records in the 500 freestyle. Burton's time of 5:04.99 replaces Tim Miller's record set in 1989. Richardson's time was 5:23.73, breaking his own record.

DCMS wrestler is state champion
      Two Delphi Middle School wrestlers competed over the weekend in the Indiana High School Coaches Association Middle School State Tournament held in New Castle. Tanner Lynde wrestled 132 and had 30 wrestlers in his weight class. Lynde went 5-0 on the day to become the 132 champion. He won three rounds by pins, one by a tech fall, and in the final match by a 4-1 decision.

Home court doesn't help Cougars
      The 2A top-ranked Tipton Blue Devils (16-1) and the Carroll Cougars (6-10) faced off for the first time in regular season play last Thursday night at CHS. The visitors came away with the 55-41 win. The contest marked the second time this season that Carroll found itself going up against a top ranked team, right after they suffered their first loss of the season.

Cossairt benefit
      A benefit dinner for Bonnie Cossairt will be held before the Carroll-Frontier boys' basketball game Saturday night at Carroll. Serving will be in the CJSHS cafeteria from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Cossairt, a long-time Carroll bus driver, is battling breast cancer.

Oracles lose to conference rival
      Sometimes the game of basketball can be a difficult one to figure out. A lot of Delphi faithful are sharing that sentiment following the Oracles' closely-played 52- 48 loss at Twin Lakes last Thursday night.

Honor rollers get iced
      Delphi Community Middle School students who made the semester honor roll were treated to an Indiana Ice hockey game Jan. 26 at Pepsi Coliseum in Indianapolis. A total of 71 students and 11 chaperones enjoyed the event. Middle school counselor Angela Bieghler said the students deserved some fun.

      Delphi Youth Baseball's Summer League last day registration and sign-up time for both players and coaches will be Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Canal Interpretive Center Lobby. Eligibility includes anyone ages 4-12, using age as of May 1.
