SAVANAH STEVENS, a freshman at Indiana State University, Terre Haute, will play the lead role in the ISU production of "FUSION - Dance of the Sun."
The play will be presented Feb. 27 through March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the university's Dreiser Theatre.
Savanah will play the part of Shaman Angekkok. The Shaman is the chief of an Inuit village and grandmother to two Inuit children. She is a wise storyteller and somewhat of a mystic.
In the play, storytelling and dancing are fused together to tell the Inuit story of how the world was created.
Savanah is a 2007 graduate of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School and is a theatre major at ISU.
Her parents are Mark and Cecilia Stevens of Burlington.
BRANDON BERNIER of Bringhurst and MARCIA WEFLEN of Rossville have been named to the Honors List for the 2007 fall semester at the University of Southern Indiana.
NICHOLAS MYLET of rural Camden has been named to the fall semester dean's list at Tufts University in Massachusetts.
DILLON CARTER of Flora was one of 11 students from Valparaiso University who helped raise $1,200 during a 48-hour video game marathon broadcast online Jan. 11-13.
As approximately 80,000 people watching the gamers attempt to beat four "Legend of Zelda" games during the course of the marathon, the students asked their audience for donations to Child's Play - a gamers' charity that helps children's hospitals throughout the country build collections of video games and toys for use by children receiving care for long-term treatment of cancer and other illnesses.
Carter is sophomore art major. He is the son of Byron and Wyndham Carter and is a graduate of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School.
