Announces candidacy
Richard "Rick" Eller of Galveston has announced he will file candidacy papers for Indiana House Seat 24 today, Jan. 23, the first day to file for the 2008 Primary Election. Seven-term incumbent Rich McClain of rural Logansport currently holds that seat.
Eller Both men are Republicans and have faced off before in the 2006 Republican Primary when Mc- Clain defeated Eller. The Indiana House Republicans lost majority control of the Indiana House later that fall.
Eller, 40, is the past president of the Cass County Commissioners board. Previously, he served as the chairman of Jackson Township Advisory Board, Cass County.
For nearly 16 years he has been employed at Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Indiana University Kokomo. As a veteran, he served as a paratrooper in the Army's 82nd Airborne and later as a sergeant in the Indiana National Guard 38th Infantry.
