Delphi repeats as Hoosier Conference wrestling champ
The Delphi Oracles successfully defended their title at the Hoosier Conference wrestling tournament held Saturday in Monticello. The Oracles accumulated 279.5 points for first place. Tipton placed second with 220.5 and Benton Central finished third with 178. Other placings were: 4th - Twin Lakes 172, 5th - West Lafayette 143, 6th - Rensselaer 138.5, and 7th - Sheridan 81.
The Oracles won with a total team effort. All 14 wrestlers placed and 11 Oracle wrestlers were in the finals.
Finishing as Hoosier Conference champions were: 103 - Randy McIlrath, 112 - Bob Floyd, 119 - Donovan Alderman, 145 - Hayden Peterson, 152 - Tyler Cooper, and 285 - Wesley Everett.
Placing second were: 125 - Aaron Back, 130 - Nathan Mc- Tigue, 160 - Braden Atwood, 189 - Brandon Delaney and 215 - Travis Yoakum. Adam Cunningham at 135 placed third as did Shane Evans at 171. Cory Smith placed fifth at 140.
The Oracles will be in action again Wednesday evening against Lewis Cass. This will be senior night
