Ivy Tech to help former students complete their degrees
Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette will help former students complete their degree by awarding up to fifty $1,000 scholarships. The scholarship program known as Project Complete is part of the $3.1 million Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) grant announced last October.
To be eligible for the award, former students must have been enrolled in a degree or technical certificate program. Students also must have earned a minimum of 45 credit hours towards a degree or 20 credit hours towards a technical certificate, not have attended Ivy Tech within the past year, be within 12 credit hours of completing a technical certificate or 18 credit hours from completing an associate degree, and must live within the eight-county Lafayette region. Once awarded, the scholarship may be extended for additional semesters for students who are in good academic standing.
The first round of scholarships will be awarded to students who return for the spring 2008 semester. Registration is currently underway for the spring semester that begins Jan. 14. Awards will continue through spring 2009 semester or until the funding is exhausted.
Ivy Tech has attempted to contact former students who are eligible for the program but it is possible that contact information is not current. Former students who would like to return to college and feel that they may qualify for the scholarship, should contact Christine Coon, Financial Aid Director, at (765) 269-5100 or e-mail her at ccoon@ivytech.edu.
