Comet staff report

All interested in discussing the Hoosier Heartland Highway's route and its impact on Carroll County are invited to a meeting Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Canal Interpretive Center in Delphi.

The discussion will center on the HHH path through the Delphi area, but other interchanges in the county will be discussed as well.

The purpose of the meeting is to disseminate information at the grassroots level and to seek opinions and consensus about what should be advocated and ways that citizens can impact INDOT's decisions about details of interchanges, bridges, and the corridor in general.

The meeting is sponsored by a group from the Delphi Pitch- In forum led by Alan Mc- Connell and a group led by Dan McCain and Anita Werling from the county-wide Historic Resources meeting series.

Topics will include the passage of the HHH through the Deer Creek Valley Historic District east of Delphi and the Context Sensitive Planning process that INDOT is engaged in with local groups.

Timing is critical with INDOT making final decisions in just a couple of months and with the development of the new county land use plan which will impact zoning of land and economic development around the highway.

Maps, engineering drawings, aerial photos, and other visual aids will be available to help attendees understand the issues.
