Carroll FFA places in state contests
Carroll FFA Forestry and Entomology teams competed recently in state contests held at Purdue University, placing in the top ten in both.
The forestry team took second place honors and the entomology team took ninth place.
The forestry team earned the right to compete after placing third in the Area VIII Forestry Contest. Team members are Travis Martin, Malena Zook, Chandler Keown and Megan Ayres.
Martin and Zook also placed third and fourth as individuals in the area contest and second and third as individual winners at the state forestry contest. There were 48 teams and 197 individuals who competed at the state level.
The entomology teams placed first and second at the area contest. Individual placings were: Brady Wiles, first; Maize Wickersham, second; Kaitlin Ragan, third; Jay Hodson, fifth; Eric Miller, sixth; and Kylie Wagoner, tenth.
The team of Wiles, Wickersham, Ragan and Hodson placed first in the area and ninth in the state, while the team of Wagoner, Miller and Nelson were second in the area.
