Sign-up continues for HIP
      Thousands of uninsured low-income Hoosiers are signing up for the state's new Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) which went into effect Jan. 1. Blood drive nets 54 pints in Flora
      Fifty-four pints of blood were received from 61 volunteers when the Red Cross Bloodmobile visited Flora on Dec. 27. The Flora Old German Baptist Church with nine volunteers will receive $100 from the Flora Psi Iota Xi. The Delphi United Methodist Church and the Flora First Christian Church tied for second with five volunteers each.

Unapproved budget creates problems for commissioners
      The agenda for the end-ofthe year Monday morning Carroll County Commissioners' meeting indicated county leaders would be approving contracts for county department heads, plus the commissioners' attorney. After the contracts arrived from the attorney's office, county auditor Beth Myers reported a council action that threw the proceedings into confusion.

Delphi ISTEP results indicate growth, challenges
      Indiana's public school administrators and teachers attain valuable information through Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress (ISTEP) exams. Educators at state and local levels use information from the annual test to determine how students in grades three through 10 perform as individuals and how each grade level's teaching and resources affect learning.

New book by local native chronicles personal dreams
      Carroll County native Barry Morgan has written his dream book. Literally. He chronicled his dreams for a whole year, resulting in a 462-page book titled "So You Think Your Dreams Are Weird?!" "What I found is what I have always known, but hadn't taken the time to study," said Morgan in one of the two forwards to his book. "My dreams are weird, hilarious, and entertaining.

Tri Kappa to award scholarships to qualifying students
      The state organization of Tri Kappa will award a variety of scholarships to college students throughout the state this spring. Each scholarship awarded is for $1,000. Scholarship chairman Cathy Berkshire of Delphi Tri Kappa is seeking applicants to sponsor for an academic scholarship given to students from each of 12 provinces in Indiana.
