Delphi resident has it 'maid'
By Kevin Schnepp Staff writer

Delphi resident Deb Mears will have it "maid" this year thanks to the Weiman Home Care Products' Maid for a Year contest. Mears was one of five winners to receive one year of bi-weekly maid service provided by Merry Maids, the largest home cleaning franchise in the world, and a supply of Weiman's most popular home care products.

The contest invited entrants to submit an essay describing why they need to be rescued from household chores. Mears was nominated by her sister-inlaw, Susan DeKoyer of Batavia, Ill.

Mears, director of the Family Health Clinic of Carroll County, said she didn't know DeKoyer had nominated her but was certainly glad she did.

"I was amazed I was one of only five people across the country chosen for this," Mears told the Comet Friday. "It was a very nice surprise. I just can't wait to see the essay my sisterin law wrote."

Mears said Weiman had already sent her a large basket of cleaning supplies.

"I have to admit, I started using the supplies and Merry Maids hasn't even been here yet," she said. "I'm just very happy and thankful for the surprise."

Carl DeMasi, Weiman president and CEO, said he was pleased the company could help relieve Mears' load.

"Weiman is honored to lend a helping hand to such a deserving family," said. "By relieving the stress of household cleaning, Ms. Mears will now be able to spend this extra time and energy on family, friends and herself."
