Fun day at CES
The last day of classes before the Christmas holiday vacation at Carroll Elementary School was Polar Express Day. All students were invited to wear their pajamas to school for the day. Students also participated in several activities such as making train engines out of candy. Several classrooms worked together to create stories that went along with "The Polar Express" story, or its elements. Sixth graders worked with first graders; second graders worked with fifth graders; and kindergarteners worked with fourth graders. Principal Carolyn O'Connell read "The Polar Express" to the student body while teachers went back to their classrooms and hid bells for each student to find. Santa paid a visit and delivered the first gift to a BRAG Award winner, just as Santa delivered the first gift in the story. Afterwards the entire school sang Christmas carols, under the direction of music teacher Peggy Suhre.
