Flora-Monroe Township

The library will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year's Day holiday.

The Indiana 2007 Travel Guide is available at the library. Plan a Hoosier vacation or daytrip easily with the information provided in this publication. Spend a long weekend at one of many festivals, go antique shopping in charming Indiana towns, or enjoy art at one of the state's world class museums. This guide will provide a great resource as you travel the state. It will direct you to local attractions, restaurants, and hotel accommodations.

The guide separates the state into regions, listing places to visit and where to stay in each region. Special features include Indiana Wineries, Arts & Culture, Girlfriend Getaways, Sports & Entertainment, Family Fun, Outdoor Recreation and Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Pick up your free copy on the main level of the library.

It's time to vote for your favorite book of the year. We want to know what the Flora area has been reading and talking about this past year. There are three categories: Adult, Young Adult, and Children. Books can be non-fiction or fiction. Pick up your voting form at the circulation desk. Patrons may also email their votes to floralib@flora.lib.in.us.

Children can call the library's Dial-a-Story 24 hours a day to hear a short story. The story currently playing is Snowball's Christmas Eve." On Friday the new story will be "The Fox and the Rooster." Call 967-3814.

Delphi Public

The library will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Normal hours will resume Jan. 2 from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Artist Studio series will be held each Tuesday in January beginning Jan. 8 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Acrylic Painting class is open to aspiring artists 10 years of age and older. Students will furnish their own supplies. A few spots remain in a class taught by Sara Daly- Brosman. Call the library to register and for a materials list.

Calling all cowpokes to circle up and enjoy an evening of western songs, stories and special campfire treats Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. with Michael Flower. The musician grew up with the desire to be a cowboy and experience life on the range. He sings about the idyllic life and ballads of the old west. This concert is a great opportunity for the whole family to enjoy a winter evening around the warmth of a flashlight campfire. Authentic trail grub will be served.

The first Coffee Beat of the year opens Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. with Joe Peters and Deep and Simple. The group brings a delightful sound with a repertoire of contemporary folk and original music. Deep and Simple has a distinctive sound unified by beautiful three-part harmony. There will be plenty of hot coffee and cool music for those who come to this free event.
