A therapy dog, he resides with Joretta and Denny Boyd of Flora...Loren Hylton was elected president of the Carroll County Commissioners.

Jan. 10 - DCSC Superintendent Ralph Walker described strategies aimed at keeping short and long-term goals on target at Monday's school board meeting...The Dinner Bell in Burlington reopened on Jan. 1 under new ownership, Mike and Carol Wills...Matt Heber of Delphi attended the 2006 Pangos All-Midwest Frosh-Soph Camp in Indy and went on to make the winning basket in an "I'm Thinking Arby's" commercial...Oracle wrestlers brought home the North Newton traveling trophy for the third straight year...ALCO collected more than $300 through its Cutest Baby contest with the proceeds being donated to the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program...Paul Marcellino is Carroll County's new Extension agent...Adult evening computer classes are once again being offered at Carroll Elementary School...Carolyn Pearson was elected president of the Delphi City Council for the 12th straight year.

Jan. 24 - After years of pursuing his long-time goal, former Camden resident John Perkins became equipment manager for the Chicago Bears...Delphi City Council member John Hampton was appointed to represent Delphi on the Carroll County Area Plan Commission...DCHS swimmer Shannon Kremer re-set her long-standing fly swim record...Seniors Ty Sullivan and Kristen Geheb were crowned Carroll High School basketball homecoming king and queen...Delphi Community High School graduate Ross Larimore released his CD, "Can You Feel It."

Jan. 31 - 4-H leaders Deb Guckien, Meg Burnworwth, Helen Ennis and Lynn Brown were recognized at the 2006 4-H Leaders Banquet...Delphi Chamber of Commerce presented annual recognition awards to DCSC board president Robert Resler, "Making a Difference" Award; community volunteer Ed Gruber, Milroy Award; and property owners Jim and Mary Ellen Shaffer, Community Appearance Award...Martha Sanderson was honored Sunday as a 75-year member of the Carroll Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 475 at Camden.

Feb. 7 - Carroll County Wabash & Erie Canal Association received local, state, and national recognition, and also received worldwide publicity when featured in Inland Waterways International magazine...Flora Town council passed a resolution to proceed with development plans for old Flora School. Carroll County Commissioners cautiously committed to the project as well...the Drainage Board honored secretary Wanda Duff's 13 years of service to the county...Carroll County Traffic Safety Partnership participated in a statewide safety belt enforcement blitz titled, "Operation Pull-over."...Delphi Middle School students were challenged by their homeroom teachers to work with the Parents Actively Committed to Education (PACE) to collect non-perishable items during Superbowl Sunday for the food pantry...Delphi native Ryan Van Matre, D.C., M.S., treats Indianapolis Colts players for soft tissue injuries...Carroll junior, Heather DeLon was Lafayette Sectional diving champion... Delphi High School junior Brittany Tyner was chosen as an IHSAA Role Model...The annual boys' basketball rivalry between the Carroll Cougars and the Delphi Oracles turned out to be a fight to the end. The visiting Cougars won 58- 56.

Feb. 14 - Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School and Carroll Elementary School are two of 36 Indiana schools that will receive national recognition for their Indiana Gold Star School Counseling programs... Four Carroll students, Kurtis Robeson, Seth Pencek, Nick Jones and Chelsea DeVos sang with the best singers in the state at the Indiana Music Educators annual convention...Tim Richardson of Flora and Galina Ovchinnikova of Russia wed after courting online since March 2005.

Feb. 21 - Philip Seward, formerly of Carroll County, is now a composer and performer in Chicago. His world premier of "African Stories," a children's opera, made its debut Feb. 22...Alan Turner of Flora was a litigant on an episode of the TV show, "The People's Court." He was the defendant in a case involving a six-foot Elvis statue that he sold on Ebay... The DCHS Academic Decathlon team advances to nationals after finishing fifth in the small school division at the state competition held at Purdue...DCHS wrestler Donovan Alderman competed in the IHSAA State Finals, finishing his wrestling season with a 41-1 record.

Feb. 28 - The Flora Police Department, working in conjunction with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, has completed a month-long investigation into a Flora burglary. Arrested were James T. Shelley, 25, and Christopher L. Robertson, 21, both of Flora...Lancaster Bridge is served new life by history, heroics. Spanning 128 feet across the North Fork of the Wildcat Creek on CR 500W near Owasco, the bridge built in 1872, has undergone at least three significant rehabilitation projects...Norm and Jane Miller, representing the Delphi chapter of Tri Kappa presented Ovar' Coming with a check for over $5,300 to help fight ovarian cancer.

March 7 - William "Bill" Gos recently donated an 1805 grandfather clock to the Carroll County Wabash & Erie Canal Association. It is reputed to be the first cock brought into Carroll County...Sheriff Tony Burns has implemented two new programs - credit and debit cards can now be used to bond out of jail and is accepting no-longer-needed cell phones to recycle for a good cause...Bishop law firm has served the community for 75 years...Delphi eighth grade girls are winners of the White County Tournament...Delphi wrestled the 'Battle of Books' skillet from Carroll...DCHS Physics 1 students competed against 10 other high schools from as far away as Michigan during the annual Rube Goldberg machine contest at Purdue University...Marvin Boatright of Indianapolis addressed Delphi school assemblies as part of Black History Month activities at the school.

March 14 - DCSC school board is discussing the future of its elementary schools...The Rossville Rockettes Dance Team competed in the Indiana High School Dance Team Association competition held at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. The team earned a second place in the novice pom division...Carroll girls' swim team accomplished a feat this year and compiled the best season record, 14-5, in Carroll girls' swim history...The 3-on-3 wheelchair basketball tournament at Carroll Elementary School raised more than $2,000...Indiana's First Lady Cheri Daniels addressed the Carroll County Republican Women at their annual membership meeting in Flora...Leadership Carroll County graduated its second class...For the third year in a row, Rossville Elementary has been named a Four Star School...County residents Linda Wise, Richard Bradshaw, and Kenneth Pyle were inducted into the Agricultural Hall of Fame at the Carroll County Pork Producers annual banquet held Monday night...Carroll County Council members approved the use of $30,000 of riverboat gambling money for a grant match for the joint Yeoman Community Center and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) garage project.

March 21 - DCHS guidance counselor, Greg Smiley, one of the 129 teachers to receive a Indiana Lilly Endowment grant, got the chance to absorb the culture and language of Veracruz, Mexico... As a result of resurrecting its Forestry Commission last year, the City of Delphi earned the National Arbor Day Foundation's designation of Tree City USA...The National Weather Service honored Dick Curts of Flora for 10 years of service in the Cooperative Weather Observer Program...Records were set in volunteer participation and collection totals at the 12th annual DCHS blood drive...The Carroll team, "Intelligence," won the junior high Battle of Books competition...Flora's Kiwanis Club and Prevent Child Abuse Carroll County hosted Easter egg hunts in Flora and Delphi, respectively.

March 28 - Governor Mitch Daniels stopped in Delphi last Wednesday to meet and greet locals...The Delphi Quarry of U.S. Aggregates, Inc. received the Indiana Mineral Aggregates Association 2006 Gold award for excellence... The Indiana Department of environmental Management (IDEM) has granted the Boerman-Carroll Dairy a permit to begin operations...Residents may dispose of worn or damaged American flags in an honorable fashion at the Delphi American Legion's drop box on South Washington Street in Delphi...Delphi FFA member Nathan Trapp received his Hoosier Farmer Degree... Retired Carroll County Judge John Smock was honored for 75 years of service as a Freemason...Eel River Indian Tribe Chief Mike Floyd is working to gain federal recognition for his tribe.

April 4 - Steve and Marilynn Auth have opened a bed and breakfast called the Lazy AA which they describe as a "guest ranch"...County students Jennifer Hardyneic and Keltie Lake will receive full-tuition, four year scholarships as Carroll County's 2007 Lilly Endowment Scholars...Flora Volunteer Fire Department is pursuing the construction of a new fire station... Keith Chandler has resigned as Carroll County Chamber of Commerce executive director.

April 11 - Carroll senior Lindsay Stiller, and Delphi senior Ann Mears were named DAR Good Citizens...Carroll County YMCA hosted its fourth annual Healthy Kids Day...Wallace "Wally" Dolan portrayed the school master and spoke on oneroom school houses at the Wabash & Erie Canal Association meeting...Delphi Community School Corporation Board of Trustees approved realignment of Camden and Hillcrest elementary schools in a 5-2 vote. Camden Elementary is to be the Early Childhood Center, while Hillcrest is to house grades 1- 5...Owner of the vacant Hardee's building in Delphi, Harold Klinkhamer, has signed a contract with an Arby's franchiser.

April 18 - DCHS, in cooperation with Tri Kappa Sorority, presented the 51st annual Jack Sanders' Delphi Art Show...The 2007 budget submitted by Carroll County was tentatively approved, but reduced by $337,824...DCMS seventh grader, Tanner Lynde, was an All American wrestler for Delphi by placing fifth in his weight class in the Kids Folkstyle National Championships... Carroll FFA Chapter attended the District V Leadership Contests at Clinton Central High School and racks up wins...Students were reminded of the effects of driving under the influence of alcohol in the Every Fifteen Minutes program presented to DCHS... Sophomore Shawneci Windell of DCHS advanced to the regional U.S. competition in level eight gymnastics... Carroll County watercolorist Rena Brouwer was one of 15 selected Indiana artists to take part in the juried art show "Preserving Nature."

April 25 - Emerging leaders from all across northern Indiana gathered last weekend at the Tecumseh Leadership Center for the 22nd annual Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)... Shaun Rose is named Carroll School Corporation's new athletic director... Delphi native, Gregory D. Wasson, was named president and chief operating officer of Walgreen Co...The Carroll County Garden Club held its 11th annual Garden Fair on Saturday...Sandy Sterling and Flora Roudebush own the new Sandy's Variety Mart in Flora... Leon Sprinkle, 48, learned his fate when a jury of his peers found him guilty of attempted child exploitation.

May 2 - Highway Superintendent Ron Francis will replace Ramzi Awwad as head of the county highway department...Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School English teacher, Marsha Eckert, was honored as the Wal-mart teacher of the year for the Frankfort area...A pre-application permit was issued to Optima Dairy by Carroll County Area Plan...Bald Eagles are again building nests along the banks of the Wabash River in Carroll County...Camp Tecumseh will begin its 34th year of Day Camp...Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School took top honors in the Hoosier Heartland Conference Math contest...Project W.E.E.D. May 9 - Additional law enforcement will be available on Lake Freeman thanks to a $40,000 grant from the Department of Natural Resources...High school official Gordon McCain and former Carroll High School swim standout Gary Thomas were inducted into the first class of the Indiana High School Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame...Cody Miller earned his Eagle Scout Award...Sheriff Tony Burns is convinced there is a need for a second narcotics detection K-9, cross-trained to track those who flee or who are lost in the community...Barbara Minich Weaver was honored as a 'Woman of Distinction,' after being selected with ten other women of Northwest Indiana to receive the YWCA award... The Town of Flora was put on notice by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) for violations with the town's wastewater system...A new Weather- Hawk on top of Carroll High School collects local weather information for the students and community...

May 16 - Students in Mike Hyman's fifth grade class at Carroll Elementary School learned how to invest money in the stock market and took first place in a statewide stock market competition...Anita Werling unveiled the Delphi Preservation Society's latest plans for the Delphi Opera House...Former county health department employee, Rebecca Lohmiller was charged with six C-felony counts of forgery and 21 B-misdemeanor counts of practicing nursing without a license...Canal volunteers worked on restoring the 1905 Stearns iron-bridge obtained from Pulaski County last year...A petition asks Delphi school trustees to rescind their realignment decision.

May 23 - Area IV Agency on the Aging and Community Services Inc., has received a Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) to fund community services and activities...Jim and Kelli Snowberger of Snow's Mixed Martial Arts in Delphi hosted the Open Style Martial Arts Indiana State Chamionship...Chelsea DeVos was the winner of the Carroll Honor Award...Jaime McCarter and Ashley Bordner of the Carroll girls' track team advanced to the West Lafayette Track and Field Regional while the boys' 4x400 relay team advanced to the Lafayette High School regional...Delphi Mayor Lee Hoard was issued a Private Detective License by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency on May 17...The structure known as the "green bridge" on Meridian Line Road near SR 218 was repainted and now lives up to its name with a new paint job.

May 30 - Kristen Myer and Lindsay Stiller were honored as Carroll High School's valedictorians, and Amanda Fields as the salutatorian...Old German Baptist Brethren heritage placed value in commitment to the teachings of Christ and strength of community at the church's annual conference near Rossville...Eric Conde, Miranda Kinzie and Johnni McCarty were rewarded for their participation in Hillcrest Elementary's I-Read Challenge..."Jungle John" Silly Safaris brought several animals to show at Carroll Elementary School to help promote Flora Library's summer reading program...Carroll County Chamber of Commerce hired a new executive director, Sara Booker...Eighty-seven 4-H members participated in the annual Share-the-Fun Contest talent show...National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) presents "Excellence" award to Carroll County detective Steve Mullin.

June 6 - Rossville High School's top of the class are Aaron Brovont, valedictorian, and Amy Stark, salutatorian...Delphi High School announced Shannon Kremer as valedictorian and Brianne Stauffer as salutatorian...Top Students in Delphi High School's criminal justice course, Adam Lair of Carroll and Stephanie Murray of Twin Lakes, got to ride in a State Police helicopter...Mike McCroskey is the new girls' basketball coach at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School...Speaking at the Stone Barn in Delphi, Democrat Congressman Joe Donnelly talked about the high coast of fuel, the war in Iraq and renewable energy sources.

June 13 - Flora Kiwanis Club hosted its first Secret Garden Tour...Six-year-old Emily Hudson of Delphi won a new bike during McDonald's Spring Fling...History re-enactor, Larry Singer of Anderson, helps keep Adams Mill open, almost singlehandedly... Jay Bordner replaces Wayne Swaim as Burlington's representative on the county EDC...Camden passed an ordinance with reimburses property owners $4 per running foot for sidewalk installation...Delphi Main Street Society celebrates the area's rich transportation history during the Delphi Heritage Transportation Festival...Camden Elementary School is renamed as Camden Early Childhood Center.

June 20 - Julie A. Gardiner, 35, Lafayette was found guilty of dealing methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a public park...Jesse Cacy of Frankfort was the winner of the 10K Hog Jog, his winning time was 34:01...Jerry and Lorraine Popejoy's 1969 Chevy Camero was judged best of show in the 19th annual Hog Jog held at Flora...Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9383 and American Legion Post #75 burned deteriorated flags during a ceremony held on Flag Day.

June 27 - Flora will have two Extensive Support Needs housing units in the near future...New licenses featuring a vertical format become available to Carroll County to help battle identity theft, card tampering, and protect against underage drinking and smoking...Flora All-Stars won baseball league ages eight and under tournament, hosted by Delphi...Bob Walton was asked to be the Grand Marshal of the 14th annual Delphi Independence Day parade.
