Jan. 31 - 4-H leaders Deb Guckien, Meg Burnworwth, Helen Ennis and Lynn Brown were recognized at the 2006 4-H Leaders Banquet...Delphi Chamber of Commerce presented annual recognition awards to DCSC board president Robert Resler, "Making a Difference" Award; community volunteer Ed Gruber, Milroy Award; and property owners Jim and Mary Ellen Shaffer, Community Appearance Award...Martha Sanderson was honored Sunday as a 75-year member of the Carroll Chapter Order of the Eastern Star No. 475 at Camden.

Feb. 7 - Carroll County Wabash & Erie Canal Association received local, state, and national recognition, and also received worldwide publicity when featured in Inland Waterways International magazine...Flora Town council passed a resolution to proceed with development plans for old Flora School. Carroll County Commissioners cautiously committed to the project as well...the Drainage Board honored secretary Wanda Duff's 13 years of service to the county...Carroll County Traffic Safety Partnership participated in a statewide safety belt enforcement blitz titled, "Operation Pull-over."...Delphi Middle School students were challenged by their homeroom teachers to work with the Parents Actively Committed to Education (PACE) to collect non-perishable items during Superbowl Sunday for the food pantry...Delphi native Ryan Van Matre, D.C., M.S., treats Indianapolis Colts players for soft tissue injuries...Carroll junior, Heather DeLon was Lafayette Sectional diving champion... Delphi High School junior Brittany Tyner was chosen as an IHSAA Role Model...The annual boys' basketball rivalry between the Carroll Cougars and the Delphi Oracles turned out to be a fight to the end. The visiting Cougars won 58- 56.
Feb. 14 - Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School and Carroll Elementary School are two of 36 Indiana schools that will receive national recognition for their Indiana Gold Star School Counseling programs... Four Carroll students, Kurtis Robeson, Seth Pencek, Nick Jones and Chelsea DeVos sang with the best singers in the state at the Indiana Music Educators annual convention...Tim Richardson of Flora and Galina Ovchinnikova of Russia wed after courting online since March 2005.
Feb. 21 - Philip Seward, formerly of Carroll County, is now a composer and performer in Chicago. His world premier of "African Stories," a children's opera, made its debut Feb. 22...Alan Turner of Flora was a litigant on an episode of the TV show, "The People's Court." He was the defendant in a case involving a six-foot Elvis statue that he sold on Ebay... The DCHS Academic Decathlon team advances to nationals after finishing fifth in the small school division at the state competition held at Purdue...DCHS wrestler Donovan Alderman competed in the IHSAA State Finals, finishing his wrestling season with a 41-1 record.
Feb. 28 - The Flora Police Department, working in conjunction with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, has completed a month-long investigation into a Flora burglary. Arrested were James T. Shelley, 25, and Christopher L. Robertson, 21, both of Flora...Lancaster Bridge is served new life by history, heroics. Spanning 128 feet across the North Fork of the Wildcat Creek on CR 500W near Owasco, the bridge built in 1872, has undergone at least three significant rehabilitation projects...Norm and Jane Miller, representing the Delphi chapter of Tri Kappa presented Ovar' Coming with a check for over $5,300 to help fight ovarian cancer.
March 7 - William "Bill" Gos recently donated an 1805 grandfather clock to the Carroll County Wabash & Erie Canal Association. It is reputed to be the first cock brought into Carroll County...Sheriff Tony Burns has implemented two new programs - credit and debit cards can now be used to bond out of jail and is accepting no-longer-needed cell phones to recycle for a good cause...Bishop law firm has served the community for 75 years...Delphi eighth grade girls are winners of the White County Tournament...Delphi wrestled the 'Battle of Books' skillet from Carroll...DCHS Physics 1 students competed against 10 other high schools from as far away as Michigan during the annual Rube Goldberg machine contest at Purdue University...Marvin Boatright of Indianapolis addressed Delphi school assemblies as part of Black History Month activities at the school.
March 14 - DCSC school board is discussing the future of its elementary schools...The Rossville Rockettes Dance Team competed in the Indiana High School Dance Team Association competition held at Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis. The team earned a second place in the novice pom division...Carroll girls' swim team accomplished a feat this year and compiled the best season record, 14-5, in Carroll girls' swim history...The 3-on-3 wheelchair basketball tournament at Carroll Elementary School raised more than $2,000...Indiana's First Lady Cheri Daniels addressed the Carroll County Republican Women at their annual membership meeting in Flora...Leadership Carroll County graduated its second class...For the third year in a row, Rossville Elementary has been named a Four Star School...County residents Linda Wise, Richard Bradshaw, and Kenneth Pyle were inducted into the Agricultural Hall of Fame at the Carroll County Pork Producers annual banquet held Monday night...Carroll County Council members approved the use of $30,000 of riverboat gambling money for a grant match for the joint Yeoman Community Center and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) garage project.
March 21 - DCHS guidance counselor, Greg Smiley, one of the 129 teachers to receive a Indiana Lilly Endowment grant, got the chance to absorb the culture and language of Veracruz, Mexico... As a result of resurrecting its Forestry Commission last year, the City of Delphi earned the National Arbor Day Foundation's designation of Tree City USA...The National Weather Service honored Dick Curts of Flora for 10 years of service in the Cooperative Weather Observer Program...Records were set in volunteer participation and collection totals at the 12th annual DCHS blood drive...The Carroll team, "Intelligence," won the junior high Battle of Books competition...Flora's Kiwanis Club and Prevent Child Abuse Carroll County hosted Easter egg hunts in Flora and Delphi, respectively.

April 4 - Steve and Marilynn Auth have opened a bed and breakfast called the Lazy AA which they describe as a "guest ranch"...County students Jennifer Hardyneic and Keltie Lake will receive full-tuition, four year scholarships as Carroll County's 2007 Lilly Endowment Scholars...Flora Volunteer Fire Department is pursuing the construction of a new fire station... Keith Chandler has resigned as Carroll County Chamber of Commerce executive director.
April 11 - Carroll senior Lindsay Stiller, and Delphi senior Ann Mears were named DAR Good Citizens...Carroll County YMCA hosted its fourth annual Healthy Kids Day...Wallace "Wally" Dolan portrayed the school master and spoke on oneroom school houses at the Wabash & Erie Canal Association meeting...Delphi Community School Corporation Board of Trustees approved realignment of Camden and Hillcrest elementary schools in a 5-2 vote. Camden Elementary is to be the Early Childhood Center, while Hillcrest is to house grades 1- 5...Owner of the vacant Hardee's building in Delphi, Harold Klinkhamer, has signed a contract with an Arby's franchiser.
April 18 - DCHS, in cooperation with Tri Kappa Sorority, presented the 51st annual Jack Sanders' Delphi Art Show...The 2007 budget submitted by Carroll County was tentatively approved, but reduced by $337,824...DCMS seventh grader, Tanner Lynde, was an All American wrestler for Delphi by placing fifth in his weight class in the Kids Folkstyle National Championships... Carroll FFA Chapter attended the District V Leadership Contests at Clinton Central High School and racks up wins...Students were reminded of the effects of driving under the influence of alcohol in the Every Fifteen Minutes program presented to DCHS... Sophomore Shawneci Windell of DCHS advanced to the regional U.S. competition in level eight gymnastics... Carroll County watercolorist Rena Brouwer was one of 15 selected Indiana artists to take part in the juried art show "Preserving Nature."
