George F. Davis

George F. Davis, 82, of Rossville, died at 11:04 p.m. Sun., Dec. 10, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

Born Nov. 9, 1925, in Anderson, he was the son of George and Hazel Davis. On April 21, 1957, in Bringhurst, he married Cora Jane Parrett, who survives.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946 in the 875th Bomb Squadron.

Mr. Davis was a rural mail carrier for 38 years, retiring in 1988. He first worked in California, then Bringhurst.

A graduate of Lapel High School, he enjoyed boating and sailing and previously taught navigation in Indianapolis.

Surviving with his wife are a son, Rex Davis of Noblesville; a daughter, Rhonda Schlanser (husband: Rich) of Beecher City, Ill.; a granddaughter, Sara Busch; and a grandson, Derek Busch.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Baker Funeral Home, Flora. Pastor Marty White will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
