"Joyeux Noel," the awardwinning film of the true-life story of the spontaneous truce declared by Scottish, French and German troops in the trenches of World War I, will be shown Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. French refreshments and warm cider will be served with the discussion following the film.

"Tales of Christmas," both old and new is the theme for Story Time during the week of Dec. 17. Children age infant to preschool will be treated to stories, songs and games at the Family Story Time Dec.18 at 7 p.m. and age specific story times are scheduled for the morning of Dec. 20. Call children's librarian Marcia Sledd for times and details.

In Stitches Fiber Arts Circle will gather Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. Bring a project in progress and a holiday treat to share with this circle of closely knit friends.

A Christmas Tea featuring short book talks and festive treats is planned Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. Come enjoy an evening with friends and bring a few of your own book recommendations from the past year.

Flora-Monroe Township

Come into the warmth of the library and experience Sights of the Season III, an art reception featuring the works of Brenda Daly Reid, this Saturday, Dec. 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Richter Program Room.

Spiced cider, hot tea and coffee, and special treats will be served. This is part of the library's Hometown Holiday Open House that ends on Saturday. The art exhibit will be displayed through the holidays.

The Carroll Elementary Art Enrichment Classes will also have their works displayed in the Richter Program Room. More second grade projects have been added: Tiger collages in the style of Henri Matisse, self-portraits that combine drawing with found objects like artist Robert Rauschenberg, and paper weavings to show optical illusions with color and shape. Art Enrichment is taught by Grace Woodruff.

The next preschool storytime theme is "Christmas." It's time to deck the halls for the holidays! Christmas trees, wreaths, cookies, and holly. Classic holiday stories, fun and cheer will be on hand to celebrate with your preschooler. Storytime is Tuesday morning at10 a.m. This will be the last storytime of the year. Don't miss the fun!

Dial-a Story is available 24 hours a day. Currently playing is "Why the Evergreen Trees Keep Their Leaves in Winter." On Friday the new story will be "The Visit to Santa Claus Land." Call Dial-a-Story, 967- 3814.
