Looking for some great Christmas gift ideas? The library has a large collection of books to offer inspiration for recipe ideas, craft projects, painting tutorials, woodworking plans, travel guides, sewing projects, scrapbooking, and a variety of other ideas. It's not too late to put a few last minute gifts together.

Children ages infant to preschool will have a jolly good time at Story Hour this week. "Santa Fun" is the theme for stories, songs and games. This is a great way to help prepare your children for upcoming holiday cheer.

Family Story time is Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. Morning story times are Nov. 6 with Baby Lapsit at 9, Toddler at 10, and Preschool at 11:30.

Morning Book Club will meet Dec. 21 at 9 a.m. for the annual Holiday Party. Come and enjoy our celebration of a well-read year. Bring a book or two to recommend and a small plate of holiday treats to share.

Kids can kick off Christmas vacation with Kid Flick Friday Dec. 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. Kids grades two and up will enjoy the movie about Lewis, an orphan who wants to see what his mother looked like. He invents a machine to look through his brain to see memories. Come and see what adventures await Lewis when he travels to the future and meets his adoptive family.

Come to a Hometown Holiday Open House in the library on Dec. 13, 14, and 15 during normal operating hours. Relax and rejuvenate as you read your favorite magazine or newspaper while you sample a variety of teas, coffee, hot chocolate and a very special recipe of hot spiced apple cider.

The open house will be in the library's Book Nook Coffee Shop.

Sights of the Season III, an art exhibit by Brenda Daly Reid, will feature an opening reception on Saturday, Dec. 15. The show will feature selected works by the artist with some pieces available for purchase. Light refreshments will be served. The art exhibit will be on display through the holidays.

Displayed in the program room currently is new work by second graders in the Art Enrichment program at Carroll Elementary School. Works include pastel landscapes, cityscapes that have stencil cuts for the skyline in the art style of Georgia O'Keefe, and 3-D underwater seascapes. Art Enrichment is taught by Grace Woodruff.

The next preschool storytime theme is "Birthdays." Every child has their own day; so do book characters and animals. All kinds of birthdays will be celebrated at storytime! Storytime is Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m.

Dial-a Story is available 24 hours a day. Currently playing is "The Coyote and the Blackbirds." On Friday the new story will be "Why the Evergreen Trees Keep Their Leaves in Winter." Call Dial-a-Story, 967-3814.
