Toy/gift drive begins

Carroll County Cares About Kids toy drive will begin Saturday and continue through Dec. 21.

Sponsored by Beta Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi sorority, the annual drive is a means to collect toys and other gift items for children in the county who might not otherwise receive gifts for Christmas.

Toys and gifts should be new or in likenew condition. Ideas include baby blankets, bottles, toys for various ages, puzzles, books, T-shirts for teenagers, purses, cologne, perfume, billfolds, make-up, bath and body sets, shaving kits, razors, and games that can be used for families. Monetary donations are also welcome and are used to purchase additional items.

There is a special need this year for gift items for boys and girls ages 8 to 12. Items for this age group might include hand held video games, sporting equipment such as basketballs and footballs, and gloves, hats and scarves.

Gift drop-off locations are the Utilities Office, Holly's Hair Hut, and Salin Bank & Trust, all in Flora.

The toys and gifts are dispersed through area churches and Christmas basket programs.
