BMV sponsors statewide food drive
Comet staff report

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is inviting all Hoosiers to join the fight against hunger during this holiday season by supporting a food drive at the state's 140 full-service license branches.

Hoosiers can bring canned and non-perishable food to any of the BMV license branches from now through Dec. 8. Regional food banks throughout the state will collect the food from the branches and distribute it in each branch community through local food pantries.

In the Lafayette area, staff from Food Finders Food Bank will collect the food from 16 license branches and distribute it to local food pantries.

Barbara Ahler, executive director, Food Finders Food Bank, commented, "We are very grateful to Commissioner Ron Stiver and the local BMV staff for this special effort to support our work to feed those in need in our communities. For these two weeks the BMV focus is both license plates and dinner plates."
