Grant workshops announced for individual artists

The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced it will collaborate to present two grant workshops for individual artists residing in Region 4, which includes Benton, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Howard, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Pulaski, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Warren and White counties.

The workshops will be held Dec. 11 at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Tippecanoe Arts Federation, 638 North St., in Lafayette.

The workshop is intended for those individual artists interested in applying for the IAC's Individual Artist Program. Artists will receive tips on how to write a successful grant application. Artists may apply for non-matching grants of up to $2,000 from this program.

While the workshop is free of charge, advance registration is required. Those interested in participating should contact Abigail Props of TAF at (800) 721-2787 or TAF@dcwi.org. Registration deadline is Dec. 7.

Eligible projects may be in the areas of dance, theater, music, crafts, literature, mediaarts, photography, folk and multi-arts, design and visual arts. Applicants must be 18 years of age, be an Indiana resident for at least one year prior to application, and plan to remain in the state of Indiana for the full grant period. Applicants may not have received an IAP grant in the previous grant cycle. All funded projects must be completed between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009.

TAF is the Region 4 granting agent for IAC. As one of IAC's 12 Regional Arts Partners, THE federation provides regional grants-making, technical assistance, cultural planning, and information and referral services to the region. The commission advocates engagement with the arts to enrich the quality of individual and community life.
