Making a difference We hope the Carroll County Commissioners were listening Monday when Flora Clerk-Treasurer Joretta Tinsman explained that it's time they look at a different insurance plan. The plan the county has now costs more than what the council has budgeted for next year. And it's rumored that this year more has been paid out in claims than the county paid into the plan. Not a good loss ratio. By doing some homework, Tinsman was able to save the Town of Flora money and at the same time, provide a good insurance plan for town employees. She didn't just take anyone's word for anything. She did the research. She asked the questions. And yes, it took time. But when it was all said and done, she saved the town money. Now, she has offered her assistance to help the county look at other insurance plans in an effort to save money. She's also suggesting that they shop their own county insurance agencies first before looking outside the county, like they presently do. Moving forward often means asking for help. Tinsman has offered hers, at no charge and with no strings. What a deal! |
