Crivello family performs with Purdue Band
Carroll County and Lake Freeman resident Joe Crivello was joined by two of his daughters and a son-in-law on the field at the Purdue-Northwestern Homecoming football game on Oct. 27. History records that it was during a football game in 1907 when the Purdue Band became the first ever to break ranks and make a formation - they formed a block letter P on the field. Since that time, such activity has become tradition throughout the nation. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of this marching band formation, some 500 Purdue marching band alumni from 32 states traveled to West Lafayette and joined the 340-member Purdue All American Marching Band during halftime to form the world's largest block P formation. The Crivello family is pictured with Purdue All American Band director Jay Gephart and retired associate director Bill Kissinger. Crivello family members are (l-r), front - Joe Crivello (Purdue '60) of Monticello, Karen Layton (Purdue '83) of St. Louis, Katy Osborne (Purdue '87), and Jim Osborne (Purdue '86) of Indianapolis.
