Russell J. Hess Jr.
Born May 20, 1960, at White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello, he was the son of Russell J. "Buck" Hess, Sr., and Linda J. Crutchfield. He was a 1978 graduate of North White High School. On Nov. 7, 1992, in Monon, he married Deanne L. Simmons, and she survives. Bucky had worked at Subaru of Indiana in Lafayette for more than 10 years. He was active in the Indiana National Guard for eight years. Bucky was a lifelong resident of Monon. He loved to bowl and was an active bowler. He also loved his motorcycle. He loved his family, and all of his nieces and nephews. He had a big heart and would do just about anything for anybody. Bucky and his brother-inlaw, Paul Jones, cooked a lot of hogs for family reunions. And he and his dad enjoyed woodworking whenever they had the time. Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Brandi Hess of Rensselaer, Megan Simmons of Monon and Kristina Hess of Indianapolis; two sons, Michael Hess, stationed in Iraq, and Thomas Hess of Monticello; three granddaughters, Destiny, Hailey and Nevaeh; his father, Russell "Buck" Hess, Jr. (wife: Angela) of Monon; his mother, Linda L. Huffer of Gosport; four sisters, Terry Langston (husband: Stanley) of Bringhurst, Sheryl Folk (husband: David) of Indianapolis, Marcy Bales (husband: Rob) of Sharpsville, and Sandy Garling of Windfall; a brother, Dan Hess of Monon; grandmothers, Dorothy Smock of Greenwood and JoAnn Crutchfield of Greenville, S.C.; two sisters-inlaw, his wife's twin, Diane Jones (husband: Paul) of Monon and Deb Irelan (husband: Tim) of Delphi; a brother-in-law, Brian Simmons of Delphi; in-laws, Duane and Nancy Simmons of Delphi; a special uncle, Pastor Scott Crutchfield (wife: Dana) of Travelers Rest, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Tennille Martin (husband: Jason) of Burlington, Jessica Redmon (husband: Paul) of Flora, Grace Marie Hess of Monon, Colton Jones of Monon, and Hannah and Patrick Irelan of Delphi. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Roscka Funeral Home in Monticello. The Rev. Chris Dodson of Monticello will officiate. Burial will be at Bedford Cemetery in rural Monon with full military rites by the Honor Guard of the American Legion, AmVets and VFW Posts, all of Monticello. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or to the Monon Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. |
