Camden okay without nurse at station
By Kevin Schnepp Staff writer

As part of Delphi elementary school realignment approved earlier this year, Camden Early Childhood Center (CECC) was formed without an on-station nurse. Despite concerns surrounding the issue, all systems seem to be functioning properly with the system put in place, according to CECC Principal Carol Coon.

Coon explained a full-time nurse stationed at Delphi routinely reviews and maintains Camden's health records. She said the school has a plan of action for emergencies small and large and even minor dispensations such as band-aids are documented. Any medical help students receive is reviewed by the nurse.

Coon said several staff at CECC could offer medical assistance if the need arose. She explained a custodian there is an EMT and almost half the school's staff are trained to use the on-site automatic defibrillator.

"I feel very confident we have the necessary resources to handle any health issue that may arise," Coon said Tuesday.
