Flora's pie and costume winners are announced There were 23 entrants in the pie judging contest and over 50 assorted characters who participated in costume judging that followed the annual chili supper held at the 4-H Community Building in Flora on Oct. 30. Flora Lions Club sponsored the events and activities. Grand prize winner in the pie judging contest was Dr. Alvan Eller for his Stafford''s Dutch apple pie. In the double crust category, first place went to Jerry Reinke (chocolate pecan) and Jane Ann Craft took second place (pineapple-coconut). In the single crust category, first place was awarded to Carla Mote (Japanese fruit) and second place went to Cindy Reinke (carmel-cream apple). Costume judging was divided into age groups with prizes awarded to the prettiest, scariest, and most original. All contestants received coupons toward a pizza purchase at the Flora Pizza King. The prettiest winners were: Kalyn Randle, Natalie Martin, Allison O'Brien, Charlotte Endress, Haley Wolf, Emma Hardin, Lexi Schnarr, Hannah Ortman, Candace Ayres, Kiersten Kressley, and Jeff Spangler, The scariest winners were: Clayton Shafer, Angel Villagrana, Heath Richardson, Owen Wise, Lance Richardson, Dagan Noonkester, Aiden Cripe, Quinton Veach, Jared Forgey, Taylor Kressley, and Steve Scott. The most original winners were: Ashlyn Kingery, Ellie Mae Briggs, Madison Hall, Cason Lambert, Emma Briggs, Malachi Sewell, Tyler Ortman, Colton Veach, Destiny Lucas, and the Briggs family. All proceeds from the event benefit the Flora Community Senior Center. |
