Flora-Monroe Township

The student work throughout the library was created in the after-school art enrichment classes at Carroll Elementary School. The Beta Alpha Chapter of Psi Iota Xi and the Gifted and Talented Program support the sessions so that any CES student may have six free lessons with materials provided. Over 200 students participate in the program.

The students are introduced to various artists, styles, and methods of creating art and gain experience with different media.

The first grade works are displayed in the Richter Program Room. The artists made simple line drawings then did more advanced drawings of chickens. They made seascape prints, explored splatter painting in the style of Jackson Pollack, and learned about shapes in art making, ice cream cones that showed spheres, cones and overlapping shapes.

Finally, they mastered spatial concepts with penguins, learning how to show distance using size and space. The first grade exhibit will be displayed through November.
