Camden receives grant to rehabilitate homes The Town of Camden has received a Homeowner Repair and Improvement Rehabilitation Grant in the amount of $216,450 to rehabilitate 13 homes within the incorporated area of Camden. The rehabilitation project is a program set up to assist low-tomoderate income households. The funds received from Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority are grant funds. There is no out-ofpocket cost to the homeowner. All applicants had to meet the income qualifications in order to participate in the grant program. Eligible work that can be done to a home includes electrical upgrades, new roofs, windows, siding, painting, heating, handicap accessibility measures, etc. According to council president Pete Wagoner, Camden Town Council will try to use local contractors during the project, hopefully assisting an economic boost for the local economy. The town council will continue to apply for grant funds to service previous and new applicants, addedWagoner. Star Development of Cambridge City compiled the application and will administer the grant on behalf of the town. Questions, comments or concerns should be directed to Patricia Casserly, town clerk-treasurer, at 574-686- 2121 or Star Development at 765-478-6512. |
