Robert F. Wise

Robert F. Wise of Lafayette, formerly of rural Carroll County, died at 8:02 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at his residence.

Born Nov. 2, 1921, in Jefferson Township, Carroll County, he was the son of Charles A. and Lora E. Goslee Wise. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1939.

His marriage was on March 3, 1946, in Delphi, to Phyllis E. Macak, who survives. The couple had resided in Lafayette since 1993, moving there from the family farm in rural Carroll County.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Bob and his wife farmed most all of their lives, and they were both world wide travelers.

He drove a school bus for the Twin Lakes School Corporation for over 20 years.

He was a member of the Hickory Grove Church.

He also served as the treasurer of the Hickory Grove Cemetery for over 35 years and was a member of the American Legion Post #75 in Delphi.

Bob was an accomplished woodworker. He made numerous items such as cradles, rocking horses and even quilt racks for all of his family and friends. Bob had done much of the inside carpentry work on their new home in Lafayette.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Darryl R. Wise (wife: Cindy) of Port Isabel, Texas, and Terry L. Wise (wife: Anita) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; a daughter, Debra K. Blackburn (husband: Jay) of Lafayette; seven grandchildren; and one greatgranddaughter.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a sister.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove Church in rural Carroll County. Pastor Gerald Stevens will officiate. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Carroll County with full military rites conducted by the American Legion and the VFW Posts, both of Delphi. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home in Monticello, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice Program. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.
