Area 8 District Soil Judging Contest was held on the Kenneth Orem farm in Burlington Township. The contest was the largest that had ever been held in the district with 177 4-H and FFAmembers representing nine counties and 17 schools. The contest was organized by the Carroll County Extension Office, and the county offices of NRCS, FSA, and SWCD. This contest teaches the youth differences in soils as they learn which types of soils are suitable to build homes on and which would be able to handle a septic system, etc.

Apeek in the big refrigerator at Mel's Locker plant during the past couple of weeks is enough to make any real hunter's trigger finger get itchy.

This past week there were ten white tail deer hanging there for processing brought in from southern Wyoming by Emmett Pearson, Jack Gerard, Dale and Harold Burkhalter and Ronnie Gascho of the Buck Creek area.

A group of Camden men were responsible for filling the refrigerator the week previously with seven mule deer and four antelope from northern Wyoming. The Camden hunters were Clay Shumaker, Dan Boyles, John Boyles and Walter Oliver.

There may be more convenient ways of getting a winter's meat supply but the thrill of a successful hunt is most satisfying.

One of the most enjoyable events of the season for members of the Delphi country Club will be the Hallowe'en party. The guests are asked to go dressed in costume but not masked. Aco-operative supper will be served at six o'clock. Following this there will be entertainment until ten o'clock when there will be a grand march and a dance.

Reports from the villages and towns in Carroll county indicate that only slight damage was done to property Thursday evening. The "goblins" did most of their dirty work in the vicinity of Rockfield, where they barricaded the doors of the telephone office, made sidewalks and roads impassible at places, tore gates loose from the fences and overthrew a few buildings. The hoodlums seem to be getting fewer each year.
