Countynative to turn 100

Carroll County native Golden Rule Thomas of Indianapoliswill celebrate her 100th birthday on Nov. 4.

One of triplets, she was born Nov. 4, 1907, to Perry and Anna Wise Rule at their home east of Camden. The babies were widely known, not only for their number, but also for their names. They were James Perry, Whitcomb Golden andRiley Paul in honor of theHoosier poet JamesWhitcomb Riley, who spent time in Carroll County.

The family later moved to Madison Township where Mrs. Thomas taught at New Hope School after also teaching at Flora. She later taught at Frankfort.

ShemarriedRaymondThomas in 1947 and they lived in Indianapolis, where she completed her teaching career in elementary schools.

The milestone birthday will be marked with a family gathering.
