Remembering the old days

Before the days of electronic mailing and constant communication, people had to face each other to discuss matters and work out differences. That or they just let the matter drop.

Whatever happened to the day when you didn't like what someone did or said and you had to decide if it was important enough to put yourself out enough to talk with them face-to-face and discuss the matter?

Now whenever anyone has an itch to scratch with someone, they can send an e-mail and never face the person about their beef. It is all very impersonal and somehow relieves the sender of the responsibility to face their personal reflection in the eyes of someone else they know does not agree with them.

All of that is gone now. Are we be better off?

It seems to be easier to sit at a desk and spew opinions and never have to actually look at the person you are having the disagreement with. The situation is further aggravated by those who don't just send out the criticism to the possible wrong-doer, but send it out to a group so that EVERYONE knows their personal business.

We may be losing a lot by not facing those who disagree with us and by having a discussion to settle differences without everyone in the community weighing in on the spat.

Whatever happened to those good old days?
