Fred L. Hedderich

Fred L. Hedderich, 86, of Camden, died at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 18, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette.

Born Oct. 12, 1921, in Camden, he was the son of Frank E. and Esther M. Lesh Hedderich. He graduated from Camden High School in 1939.

An Army veteran of World War II, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

On July 16, 1944, in Washington, D.C., he married Jean M. Martin, who survives.

Mr. Hedderich was a machinist and owned and operated Hedderich Machine Shop.

He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and was former president of the church board.

He was a former trustee of Jackson Township and a former member of the Camden-Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a former member of Camden Lions Club, American Legion Post #75, Delphi, and Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge #211, F&AM, Camden.

Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Phyllis Aaron (husband: Jack) of Fort Wayne and Linda Heckaman (fiancé: David Ferringer) of Lafayette; a son, Thomas Hedderich (wife: Robin) of Carmel; a brother, Paul Hedderich of Delphi; two sisters, Carolyn James of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Margaret Boardman of Lafayette; three grandsons, Anthony Aaron (wife: Cindi) of Carmel, Corwin Aaron of Portland, Oregon, and Josh A. Hedderich (fiancee" Stephaniee Levings) of Dallas, Texas; a granddaughter, Jennifer Dubinsky (husband: Jason) of Chicago, Ill.; a great-grandson, Nathan Dubinsky of Chicago; and two great-granddaughters, Rachel Morgan and Natalie Aaron, both of Carmel.

Services were held Monday at Cree Funeral Home, Camden. Pastor Dan Gottschalk officiated. Burial was at Camden Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post #75.
