Halloween events planned around the county
Comet staff report

It's scary how much kids have to look forward to in Carroll County this Halloween.

The official trick-or-treat night in Delphi, Flora, Burlington and Camden will be Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Other Halloween happenings around the county are listed below.

Delphi

Delphi Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Halloween party for children from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 31 in the Canal Park Pumpkin Patch on N. Washington St.

Upon arrival, children can enjoy treats and embark on a parade around the canal park. Afterward, those in costume will separate into age groups of newborn to 4, 5 to 9, and 10 years and older for costume judging and prizes. Three winners will be selected from each age group.

Prizes will be awarded for the Delphi Chamber of Commerce Halloween Coloring Contest.

Adults can enjoy the second annual bonfire and hot dog roast immediately following the children's party. Those who plan to attend should bring hot dogs and buns. Cooking forks will be provided.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9383 will host activities at 304 N Market St. from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Children will receive a bag of candy along with a hot dog, chips and witch's brew.

Also from 6 to 8 on the 31st, Delphi United Methodist Church will hold its annual Fall Carnival. Games, candy, snacks and drinks will be provided.

Hawkins Manor across from the high school on Armory Rd. will be a frightfully pleasant haunt Oct. 26 and 27 from 6 to 10 p.m. The manor's theme of "Don't come alone - you may get lost at Hawkins Penitentiary" promises a mix of fun and fright.

Flora

The annual Halloween Fest sponsored by Flora Lions Club will be Oct. 30 in the 4-H Building at the Flora Park.

An all-you-can-eat chili supper will begin at 5 p.m. Hot dogs, coney dogs, and pie also will be served. Some of the pie will come from a pie judging contest, also sponsored by the Lions Club. For details on entering the pie contest, see page 2A.

Costume judging, for all ages, will begin at 7. Prizes will be awarded. A prize also will be given to the person who brings in the most used eye glasses.

Free popcorn and cider will be served throughout the evening.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Flora Community and Senior Center.

Carroll FCCLA (Family, Career & Community Leaders of America) will have a Halloween Carnival tonight (Wednesday) from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Carroll High School Auxiliary Gym. Children in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to come, and wear costumes. There will be games and treats. Admission is a canned good or paper product.

Cutler

The Haunted Adams Mill, 4640S 75E, Cutler, continues Oct. 25, 26, and 27 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. For cost information, call 765-268-2500.

Costume judging will begin at 6 p.m. Other activities will include a cake walk, pumpkin decorating, games, and a hay ride if weather permits.

Camden
