DCSC proceeds with renovation plans A discussion process to determine what needs repaired or updated in Delphi Community School Corporation facilities entered a new phase when DCSC Board of Trustees met in public work session Monday night. The meeting was the first of several planned through early December during which the board, technical consultants and the public will interact to prioritize school needs and determine associated costs. Tuesday board president Robert Resler said a consultant from Envoy helped the board create and prioritize general categories into which specific facility needs could be placed. Rated most important by the board to update or upgrade was anything that dealt directly with the educational process, according to Resler. Included in that category was a proposed multiinstructional facility for the middle school. He explained building would be utlitized for classroom settings and would not be designed to host sporting events. Safety and security were considered second highest priority. Resler said those improvements would require building enhancements, most of which would be handled during classroom and building renovations. Asset preservation was categorized third in importance. The topic may include items such as roof, window and door maintenance. Resler said the architects would work from the list created Monday to study how to incorporate the projects into phases. |
