Flora Lions Club

Matt McIntosh was installed as a member of the Flora Lions Club on Oct. 16. The club then adjourned to Flora Community Park where Carroll County Sheriff's Deputy Tony Liggett had Reno, the newest canine addition to the sheriff's department, demonstrate his ability of uncovering illegal substances as well catching and detaining individuals trying to escape from law enforcement personnel. Deputy Liggett commented that while Reno is still on a learning curve, he has already become proficient at his job in county law enforcement.

The next Lions meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the First Christian Church in Flora.

Delphi Lions Club

Delphi Lions met Oct. 17 at the Stone Barn. Ivan Hernandez spoke about the services offered by Ivy Tech State College in Lafayette. He announced a Monticello site is in consideration.

The annual fruit sale is in progress. Anyone wanting to purchase fruit should contact a Lion.

The annual Christmas Parade will be Dec. 1. The theme is "Family Christmas."

President Darryl Noonkester urged the group to support the Carroll County K- 9 program for it to continue to be viable.

The next meeting is Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Stone Barn. Peace Poster entries will be on display at that time.
