Great opportunities to work together
By Pastor Todd Ladd

Our community is facing some interesting times. With the coming of the highway approaching nearer each day and a budget crunch that necessitated several cuts that are painful for our community it is difficult to be optimistic. At the same time this is a great opportunity to work together.

What seems to be a very difficult situation is a prime chance for creative thinking and collaboration to make a better end result. My hope is that these sorts of distressing moments allow us as a community to work together in wonderful ways. Already I have read an article about the different historical groups finding ways to work together.

We are also working together in the churches. Some pastors gather together for prayer and some are working on projects to clothe children here in Carroll County. Starting soon will be the Christmas Basket project where our citizens come together to provide a pleasant Christmas for people who otherwise might have a sad experience. Some are even working out the details to gather coats for children, although the recent ninety degree weather makes us wonder if coats will be needed.

It is this collaboration where we find the greatest energy to make a difference. I for one am excited about the opportunities to work together.

God in fact calls us to work together for the alleviation of suffering. When you look at Acts 6:1-7 you see how the early church came together to care for those in need it was amazing.

As we work together we can take advantage of the wisdom of many people throughout our community.

Todd Ladd is pastor at the Delphi United Methodist Church.
