'Kid Rocket'
Thomas Piotrowski of Flora won second place in the Indiana State Dirt Championship Race in Crawfordsville. He competed in the Rookie Class, ages 5 to 8. The championship race was 15 laps. This is his third year in dirt go-kart racing, and his last year in the Rookie Class. He had a successful season with six wins and two third-place finishes in feature races. He competed in 11 races this year, all at Ben Hur Speedway in Crawfordsville. His best recorded time this season was 51.23 mph. Local sponsors are Holly's Hair Hut, Flora Maramart, and Ayres Hardware. Thomas, aka "Kid Rocket," is a third grader at Carroll Elementary and the son of Mitch and Mary Jo Piotrowski.
