Wants Jefferson Twp. free from TLRSD

As you know I have been carrying the flag along with each of you for many months. We have had ups and downs in this battle, probably more "downs" than "ups" - and you know the "downs" we have had since the commissioners decided on July 3 to file the Declaratory Judgment. The commissioners still support our efforts. Although the council was not willing to offer them or us monetary support, I believe the council is sympathetic to our plight also. As an effort to get the help needed, I requested pledges from you to help the commissioners file the Declaratory Judgment.

At the last commissioners meeting, attorney Barry Emerson stated that we citizens could file that action and I requested that they table any decision until the next meeting to give us time to explore that avenue.

Last Friday I consulted with a law firm that I believe will help us in this battle. Although I am unable to explain the battle plan in this note, I have confidence in them. They certainly have a very level-headed approach to this problem; they have not dismissed the Declaratory Judgment issue but have opted to proceed in a slightly different direction first. This is a very capable law firm that is dedicated to helping the citizens of Jefferson Township.

Thank you for the many times you have rallied behind me in this battle to free Jefferson Township from the TLRSD - now is the time to stand up and be counted!

Another plus for Flora community

The Flora Community Club, service clubs, and all who helped in any way with the recent Moonlight Madness in Flora not only had good weather but also did a very good job with setting up and especially with cleaning up and tearing down.

When you go to church at 9 a.m. Sunday and it looks the same as any other Sunday morning, after all those people in town on Saturday and all those garage sales - Wow! - what wonderful teamwork.

I only have heard one complaint (which goes for other times, too). If you're having a yard/garage sale, please remove the signs by the next morning so they do not clutter the poles, trees, etc, where they are placed.
