Joseph A. Mitchell

Joseph A. "Joe" Mitchell, 88, of Monticello, died Oct. 14, 2007, at Lafayette Home Hospital.

He was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Remington, to Gilbert A. and Mary M. Hass Mitchell. He married Doris M. Swartz on Jan. 17, 1942, at the former Monticello Christian Church. She preceded him in death Sept. 11, 1982.

Mr. Mitchell was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II.

He worked at the old RCA Factory in Monticello for 36 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Jody Headdy (husband: Dale) of Monticello and Linda Paxton (husband: Pete) of Lafayette; a son, Ray Mitchell (wife: Mary) of Tipton; and three sisters, Amanda Criswell of Lafayette, Irene Lange of Monticello and Anna Lawrie (husband: Robert) of Delphi.

Services will be Oct. 18 in Monticello.
