Gerald W. Nipple

Gerald "Hank" W. Nipple, 84, of Rockfield, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at his residence.

Born May 12, 1923, in Rockfield, he was the son of Gould and Mary Jane Sarver Nipple. He graduated from Rockfield High School in 1941. On Dec. 14, 1946, in Logansport, he married Vivian Marceil Little, who preceded him in death on March 9, 2005.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Nipple was employed as an iron worker, retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the Iron Workers Union at Lafayette for over 60 years. He was also a member of American Legion Post #413 at Camden.

In the 1940s and 1950s, he played fast pitch softball for the RBM Shamrocks.

Mr. Nipple was an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter and enjoyed watching sports on television.

He is survived by a son, Chris Nipple (wife: Terry) of Rockfield; a granddaughter, Desiree Nipple of Rockfield; and several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Cree Funeral Home, Camden. Pastor Bob Cree will officiate. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery, Rockfield. Calling will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
