Wednesday Forum

Members of Wednesday Forum visited the Green Oaks Antique Store south of Rochester for the October meeting. The group ate lunch at McClure Apple Dumpling Inn.

The antique store was established in a house and garage in 1978 and has since grown into a large complex featuring specialty areas including antiques, material for holiday decorations and indoor-outdoor décor.

Psi Otes Auxiliary

The Auxiliary Chapter of Psi Iota Xi met at Wildcat Creek Bed and Breakfast, Cutler. The meal included orange marmalade cake made famous in the Mitford Series books.

Delphi librarian Kelly Currie reviewed several humorous short stories. The first book from which she read was given to her by Cleone Gruber. It belonged to Ed Gruber's mother, Nellie, who probably read from it at a Tipwa Grange meeting years ago. Another book from which Currie read was "An Anthology of Midwest Humor" by Chris Lamb.

Officers installed were: Doris McLeland, president; Carolyn Wagner, vice president; Mary Kelly and Polly Grantham, co-secretaries; Sandy Seele, treasurer; and Judy Conner, advisor.

Wagoner and Seele won door prizesw. Members placed orders for cheeseballs.

Committee members in charge were Lois Beesley, Joyce Sullivan, Ginny Emerson and chairman Mary Clifford.

The May meeting will be at Seele's home.

Flora Lions Club

Flora Lions Club officers and directors for 2007-2008 were recently installed. They are: Paul Redmon, president; Mike Hoffman, first vice president; Eric Johnson, second vice president; Susan Shively, past president; Dave Albaugh, club secretary; Norm Beck, international secretary; Joe Redmon, treasurer; Bill Helvie, Lion tamer; Tom Kressley and Randy Larimore, tail twisters; Bill Stoddard and Jeff McIlrath, two-year directors; Gayle Ennis and Lew Kressley, one-year directors.

District Governor Ron Spivey and his wife, Tess, were guests at the Oct. 2 dinner meeting. He gave an update on district activities.

Plans are underway for the annual Halloween Fest which will be wheld in the 4- H building at Flora Community Park on Oct. 30. The event will include a chili supper and pie judging. Those interested in entering their "special" pies may call 967-3781. Proceeds from the event will go to the Flora community and Senior Center.

Classy Classics EH

Mary Bush entertained the Classy Classics Extension Homemakers Club at her home for the October meeting. Thirteen members were present.

For devotions, the group expressed individually what they are thankful for.

The Oct. 29 holiday workshop was discussed, as well as Sewing Day, scheduled for Nov. 12.

President Diana Alter explained scholarships and the requirements for applying.

Mary Bush gave the lesson on "Organizing Your Recipe Collection.

Mary Anna Scott will host the next meeting, Nov. 12. She received the door prize.
