Fall Sports Summaries Roosevelt 7th 42, Delphi 0 The Oracle 7th grade had a rough time moving the ball against Roosevelt last Wednesday. The final score ended up in favor of the Indians, 42-0. The Oracles were led by Brent Mears, Ben Jeffery, Kaleb Salyer, Blake Walters and Daniel Pearson. Delphi looks to improve on its conference record of 0-4 on Thursday against Klondike. Delphi 8th 36, Roosevelt 6 The Delphi 8th graders won decisively last Wednesday, defeating Roosevelt 36-6, The Oracles scored all of their points in the first half and then played a conservative second half to run out the clock. Scoring for the Oracles were Tanner Lynde on a 55-yard run and a 2-pooint conversion; Karson Bender, twice with a 60-yard pass from Matt Brown and a 5-yard run; Brown with a 3-yard run and a 70-yard interception return for a TD; and Justin Gipson with a 3-point conversion. Defensively, the Oracles continued their domination, allowing fewer than 100 yards and only one score. Leading the team were Caleb Alford and Landon Garrison, who made it almost impossible for the Roosevelt players to run up the middle; Bender and Brown who both recorded interceptions; and several other Oracle players who recovered fumbles. The team's record is 6-2, while riding a five-game win streak. They are undefeated in WCJC play. Their next opponent is Klondike at Harrison High School, another conference matchup. DCMS cross country completes season Delphi Middle School co-ed cross country team completed its 2007 season on a high note, finishing second in the boys' West Central Junior Conference Meet (WCJC). The meet was held Oct. 2 at the Lafayette Jefferson course, winning the meet was West Lafayette Middle School. Highlights of the 2007 season included a first place finish at the Rossville Invitational, a new school record set by seventh grader, Eric Carpenter, who finished the 3000 meter course at the Monticello City Park in a time of 11:08. The middle school and high teams both returned to running their home meets at Delphi's Riley Park and Annex. |
