Arrests made in daytime burglaries
Comet staff report

Officers with the Indiana State Police, Frankfort, Clinton, Boone, Tippecanoe and Carroll County Sheriff's Offices came together in Frankfort two weeks ago. Officers worked together to collect evidence, statements, and confessions from suspects and witnesses of Frankfort involved in area daytime residential burglaries.

The investigation resulted in arrest warrants being issued for Michael Sidelinger, 24, Richard Henry, 23, and Samantha Mitchell, 21, all of Frankfort.

During the multi-agency investigation, officers searched Sidelinger's Frankfort residence. Police found items related to burglaries in Carroll, Clinton, and Boone counties.

As a result of the investigation, at least five daytime residential burglaries in Carroll County were solved.

It was suspected that suspects would drive through rural areas during the daytime, targeting residences to break into. Nearly all stolen items were traded for drugs or money to buy drugs.

An observant citizen was able to provide a break in the case, and relayed a suspicious vehicle description to investigators. The information helped to resolve several of these open cases.

"We are still looking for one of the suspects. Last I heard Mitchell had not been arrested," Sheriff Detective Steve Mullin said. "The situation would not have gone as smoothly if it were not for the cooperation of all county departments, we expect a positive conclusion."

According to Carroll County Prosecutor Tricia Thompson, warrants were issued for all three arrests and charges have been filed.

"I urge everyone to take precaution and be alert as to what is going on in your neighborhoods," said Thompson.

Henry was incarcerated in the Carroll County Jail. His omnibus hearing is Dec. 20, and jury trial is scheduled for Jan 27.
