Memory Walk to benefit Alzheimer's research There is still time to register to participate in Saturday's Alzheimer Association MemoryWalk to be held at Cumberland Park in Lafayette. The MemoryWalk is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. There are walks in more than 600 communities throughout the United States and its territories. One of the team captains for the Lafayette Walk is Janice Shoff Smith. Smith, who grew up near Flora and now resides inWest Lafayette, said she supports and participates in the walk because her two grandmothers had Alzheimer's. She said she particularly appreciates that all the funds raised locally stay local to fund support for caregivers, provide education, fund research, and help Alzheimer patients.
