Carroll school enrollment down Superintendent John Sayers announced enrollment figures at a regular Carroll School Board meeting Sept. 18. He said on official enrollment day, Sept. 14, the count was 1,113, down 10.5 from last year. Kindergarten students count half. He said there are 66 students in this year's kindergarten class. The corporation's enrollment includes Carroll students who go to school at Delphi, Twin Lakes, and Logansport. The board officially adopted the 2008 budget, Capital Projects Plan, and Bus Replacement Plan. The superintendent announced the resignation of Rick George, head football coach at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School, and the hiring of Angie Veach as part-time technology coordinator and Bill Dillon as junior varsity baseball coach. Sayers said Veach is finishing up her bachelor's degree and will work full-time after December. Lance Spesard of Carroll Athletic Boosters announced that Athletic Boosters will donate a John Deere Gator to the school corporation for use at athletic events, etc. A cash tuition request from Darin Nelson for his daughter, Allison, to attend Carroll was approved. She also attended Carroll last year. The board approved a fundraising request from Cougar Blues. The fundraising event will be Oct. 13 and will include a silent auction and entertainment. Flora Cub Scouts were given permission to use the Carroll Elementary cafeteria for their meetings on Fridays, and the German Baptist Youth will use the cafeteria and gym from October through April. Maintenance superintendent Tom Allbaugh said the pool renovation is coming along, and hopefully will be completed by swim season. Work is also progressing on the concession stand. The next board meeting will be Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the Administration Building. |
