Environmental Education workshop helps teachers learn and teach

Where does your trash go after you set it on the curb? Where do pests hang out in your school? How do birds hunt?

Enviro-to-Go, an environmental education and health workshop for educators, will provide teachers and administrators with answers to these questions, environmental curriculum and low-cost hands-on activities for their schools.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) event will be Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Eagle Creek Park Earth Discovery Center.Admission and parking are free, but reservations are required.

Workshops include: sessions on IDEM's new curriculum Indiana's Environment and You; curricula offered by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources; IDEM's non-point source water pollution; Garbage Scene Investigation (GSI) Project; hazardous waste inventories for schools; potential health triggers in schools; using birds of prey in classrooms, and finding the pests (non-human type) in school buildings and eliminating them using integrated pest management practices.
