Fall Sports Summaries DCMS team wins 3-way The Delphi Middle School cross country team continued its winning record last week by winning a 3-way meet at Clinton Central. The girls' team won against incomplete Rossville and Clinton Central teams, and top performers for the Oracles were Ariel Isley, Emily Layman, Morgan Edwards, Annie Mose and Taylor Hudelson. The boys' team finished first to Clinton Central (2nd) and Rossville (3rd). Top performers for the boys were Eric Carpenter, Ryan Leahy, Ricky Wendell, Cody Sattler and Devon Thomas. The boys' team also finished well at the recent Central Catholic Invitational, where they finished second against 8 teams. Top performers at the CC Invitational were Carpenter, with a time of 11:38 on the 3000 meter course. Other top scorers included: Leahy (12:06), Wendell (12:42), Adam Marvel (12:51), and Braedon Kemp (12:53). Delphi 9th outlast Sheridan The Delphi frosh football team recently evened their season record after defeating the Sheridan Blackhawks 14-6. The Oracles scored first on a 43-yard option run from quarterback Tanner Cripe. The extra point failed. In the next series, Kyle Miller stripped the Blackhawk runner of the ball. Five plays later Derek Bradshaw put the ball in the end zone on a three-yard plunge. Cripe connected to Nathan McTigue for the two-point conversion. On the last play of the half, Roy Anderson picked a Blackhawk pass to send the Oracles up 14-0 at intermission. Sheridan came out strong in the second half, marching down the field to score. The Oracles gave up on a side kick and the Blackhawk squad was still on the field. The Oracles, behind some big hits by Bradshaw, held tough and got the ball back. On a quarterback sneak, Cripe lost the ball and the Blackhawks had it again. The Oracles stopped Sheridan's attack for the win. Knights spear Oracle JV In a game at Central Catholic Monday night, the Oracle JV lost 36-12 to their hosts. The Oracles ran up and down the field, but could not quite punch it in. Zach Condon played well on the defensive line, while Tanner Cripe and Aaron Back had an interception each. The Oracle scores came on long drives finished off on a QB sneak by Cripe and a three-yard plunge by Derek Bradshaw. The JV team is now 3-4. The next game is Monday at home against Benton Central. |
