Residents enjoyed sun, snacks and a variety of entertainment at the Camden Fall Festival Sept. 8 before heavy midafternoon rains had the chance to spoil all their fun.
Visitors enjoyed food, drinks, craft booths and several musical performances near the town's main intersecting streets. Many in the community held garage sales to coincide with the festival.
Activities included a pie judging contest. Betty Lou Nelson's peach pie took first, followed by a black raspberry pie from Sally Sturdivant and a peanut butter pie crafted by Eunice Lowery. Proceeds from the contest supported the town's cemetery project.
Other contests included a flying frog contest, in which children flung rubber frogs for distance, a pedal bike race and a bubble gum blowing contest.
Participants received prizes, but no formal placings were announced. Planning committee member Jeff Sieber said the day was designed for visitors to enjoy themselves.
"We had good attendance and a lot of fun before the rain came," Sieber said. "I was happy to see so many people enjoying the day."
