Clarence H. Easley

Clarence H. "Hank" Easley, 79, Logansport, died Sept. 10, 2007, in Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 10, 1928, in Peoria, Ill., he was the son of Benjamin W. and Mae Easley. On Oct. 23, 1950, in Logansport, he married Verna M. Goyer, who survives.

Hank served as a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine and as an MP in the United States Army.

He was a structural iron worker before going to Delco Electronics, where he retired after 30 years as a millwright journeyman. He served as a skilled trade's union representative for UAW Local 292 while at Delco.

Hank raced throughout his life, starting on motorcycles, then moving on to hobby stocks, modifies, sprints (winged and non-winged). He is noted in the Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa. His favorite track to race on was Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. He was an avid NASCAR fan and Lake Cicott Micro- Midget fan.

He was a member of the General Motors Firebird Amateur Ham Radio Club, Tipton Masonic Lodge No. 33 in Logansport, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Murat Temple in Indianapolis and the Logansport Shrine Club.

Also surviving are five children, Denise Gumm, Peru, Mark Easely (wife: Sandra), Evansville, Cindy DeVault (husband: Mark), Tucson, Ariz., Barbara Jo Parker (husband: Virgil William) and Steve Easley (wife: Pam), all of Logansport; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m., followed by a Shrine processional.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine Hospital for Children.
