Local canine pro heading to world competition Bill Marion's Canine Cavalcade has been a familiar sight for many area residents during the past 13 years. Marion and his troup of acrobatic dogs have delighted onlookers at dozens of venues, including demonstrations and contests he sponsored at Riley Park in Delphi during the 152nd Annual Old Settlers' Festival. Recently the "man and his best friends" qualified for world championship competition to be held Sept. 22 at Piedmont Park (The Meadow) in Atlanta, Ga. Marion's dogs are trained in frisbee catch-and-toss, obstacle courses and other fastpaced acts of coordination. Marion said he was pleased and excited to qualify for the event. His said his main concern was not the competition, but whether he will be able to afford the trip. "I'm very glad we made it to the worlds," Marion said. "It would be wonderful to perform at that level. I didn't expect it, and I hope to make it there." Those who would like to donate in support of Marion's trip to the competition can contact him at (765) 564- 2080 or Delphi Parks Superintendent Richard Farrer at 564-5127. |
